Yulia Navalnaya Announces the Laureate of the Alexei Navalny Prize 2026
Yulia Navalnaya has announced the laureate of the 2026 Alexei Navalny Prize: Semyon Kochkin, the founder of the independent regional project Angry Chuvashia and a former coordinator of Navalny’s campaign office in Cheboksary.
Semyon created the project together with a team of like-minded people as an independent platform where it is possible to speak openly about what is happening in the republic — without fear and without censorship.
Angry Chuvashia reports on corruption and officials’ abuses, the crisis in social services, and how the war is shaping the region and ordinary people’s lives. But the project is not only about reporting. It helps people not to be left alone with their problems, find each other, and support one another — because this is how solidarity grows, and solidarity is what makes resistance possible.
Today, Angry Chuvashia is read by tens of thousands of people, and a large community has formed around the project. It is a clear example of how independent regional media can keep working under pressure — and why supporting them matters.
The Alexei Navalny Prize recognizes and supports those who continue to speak the truth and do their work despite the risks. Yulia Navalnaya congratulated Semyon Kochkin and the Angry Chuvashia team and thanked them for their work.
