Yulia Navalnaya Called On the Legal Community to Support Alexei Navalny’s Lawyers

10 December 2024

A closed trial is underway in Vladimir Oblast against Alexei Navalny's lawyers—Vadim Kobzev, Alexei Lipster, and Igor Sergunin—accused of participating in an "extremist organization" merely for carrying out their professional duties.

Yulia Navalnaya disclosed footage from a hidden camera in Alexei’s prison which shows him meeting with his lawyers. This footage was sent to the Anti-Corruption Foundation’s Black Box, a project which collects information about perpetrators of political repression in Russia.

Alexei’s conversations with his lawyers can be heard in the recordings and you can see the notes he made during their meetings. As Yulia Navalnaya points out, “A meeting between a defendant and their lawyer is protected by attorney-client confidentiality. By law, no one has the right to know what is said, nor to be present, and certainly not to record it.” This secret surveillance is further evidence that the case against Navalny’s lawyers has been fabricated.

Yulia Navalnaya has called on anyone who has footage related to Alexei’s murder to send it to one of the following addresses:

The Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) is offering a reward of 10 million rubles for such information.
