Yulia Navalnaya Meets with Australian Prime Minister
Yulia Navalnaya met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong.
On the eve of her visit, Australia imposed new sanctions on Vladimir Putin’s inner circle and individuals implicated in ACF investigations. Meeting participants emphasized that these measures were taken at ACF’s recommendation and timed to coincide with Yulia’s visit as a demonstration of support for her work.
When asked, “What message do you have for Australia?” — the first and central question of the meeting — Yulia replied that it is important to always remember: Putin is not Russia; he does not represent the country.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong called Yulia Navalnaya a “fearless voice of democracy in Russia.”
After the meeting, Anthony Albanese wrote that it was a great honor to meet Yulia Navalnaya, and that her fight for democracy, freedom, and human rights is truly inspiring.
