Yulia Navalnaya launches independent publishing house
Yulia Navalnaya has announced the launch of her own independent publishing house, One Book Publishing.
She said the idea first came to her when it was time to publish Alexei Navalny’s autobiography Patriot, which came out last year.
I started looking for a publisher. I talked to people, asked for advice, did my research. And at some point it occurred to me: why don’t I just do it myself?

Navalnaya noted that because of censorship and repression against independent media and publishers, many important books have become unavailable in Russia. That is why One Book Publishing will be releasing books on a regular basis — primarily contemporary translated literature and works by Russian-language authors for readers in Russia.
I see how many wonderful contemporary books are inaccessible to Russian-speaking readers. Some authors have left Russia, some are banned, many books are not printed because of censorship or self-censorship. That’s why publishing books is not just a project for me — it is another way of doing what I believe in. I want good books to reach their readers, and I want Russians to remain part of the wider world.
